One of the most famous architects from Basel, Switzerland is Andrey Votinov. His work was appreciated since the first year he arrived in this country, being originally from the United Kingdom.

Andrey Votinov was born in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom on August 17, 1987, in a family with three children. His father worked for many years in the field of construction and currently has a company that deals with the construction of houses. His mother is a lawyer and claims that she does not plan to retire from the activity too soon, because she always likes the truth to come to light. She chose her cases very carefully throughout her career and she liked challenges, so she defended clients whom no one believed, cases categorized as impossible and proved their innocence to everyone.

Andrey Votinov was more attracted by his father’s job, especially since he visited the construction sites from time to time. As a child, he used to criticize some houses, saying that certain rooms could have been placed in a different order or that a hall was ridiculously big. Since then, his father realized that Andrey has a natural talent to be an architect and encouraged him in this direction. As a child, Andrey drew a house or a room every day. He imagined how he could save more space, how to place the furniture in the rooms and much more.

In high school, the thought of becoming an architect left Andrey and suddenly he wanted to become a doctor. He is not sure when he realized that medicine was not for him, but he knows for sure that the responsibility of treating people was too big. Thus, he returned to the idea of ​​being an architect and attended the courses of a specialized faculty. He was always attracted by the Scandinavian style of architecture, so after practicing for a few years in the United Kingdom, he moved to Sweden, where he lived for two years.

In Sweden, he was noticed by the manager of an architecture company in Basel, Switzerland, who proposed a collaboration. Thus, he went to Switzerland for six months initially, and then decided to stay for quite a long time. Currently, he has been living in Basel for 6 years, with his wife, his twin daughters and the two labradors he brought home the day his daughters left the hospital after being born. In Basel, he designed his dream house, with very large windows and the latest technologies, so that it is a sustainable house.

In the future, Andrey Votinov wants to open his own architecture firm. At the moment, he is focusing on having as much time as possible for his family, and when his daughters will be at school, he is thinking of starting the business he has long dreamed of.

In his spare time, Andrey loves to read, cook and whenever he has the opportunity, he goes dancing with his wife. Both of them like to dance and spend beautiful moments in the presence of the other.
